WILD, WILD Aquatic, and PLT materials are available to formal and nonformal educators through workshops on request for groups of at least 15 educators and/or youth leaders.

Workshops also are provided through several colleges and universities. At the workshop, participants will be introduced to several activities as well as to suggested teaching techniques, ideas for using the activities, and philosophies behind the programs.

The goal of this twelve-week on-line class is to help you incorporate local natural resources into your curriculum. You will work in small groups and individually to create a network of contacts and resources to strenghten your knowledge about Iowa natural resources. Group and individual assignments will build on each other each week.

Participants are required to spend 5-6 hours per week on-line completing assignments and participating in group discussions. Participants should be comfortable navigating web pages, have access to internet and a computer on a daily basis, and possess basic computer skills.

The course is arranged on a weekly basis - Monday through Sunday. Each week you will have a new Module of required readings, resources and references, assignments, and occasional guest speakers. Assignments will be available at 12:00 a.m. on Mondays and must be completed by 11:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Hands-on sessions will acquaint participants with methodologies used to teach archery and fishing. Participants will receive a basic archery instructor packet and the Fish Iowa! basic spincasting module.

Lodging and meals will be provided at the Springbrook Conservation Center for June 14, 2010. Costs are included in the registration fee or covered by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

A limited number of stipends of $150 are available to participants to help defray expenses of attending the course. To be eligible for the stipend, the participant must develop an integrated unit lesson plan using the Fish Iowa! materials that meets the criteria to receive an "A" in the course.
