This volunteer water quality monitoring program includes training, a manual, and equipment for monitoring Iowa waters. For more information, visit the IOWATER web site.


blue bullet NatureMapping

NatureMapping trains citizens how to monitor and report wildlife and the habitats they observe them in. Citizen volunteer data can be used to document the distribution and relative abundance of Iowa wildlife species. For more information, visit the NatureMapping web site.

NatureMapping II volunteers conduct regular surveys for the Wildlife Diversity Program to monitor wildlife population trends. Current surveys include: Raptor Nesting Survey, Colonial Waterbird Nesting Survey, Peregrine Falcon Survey, and Frog and Toad Call Survey. blue bullet Taking ACTION: An Educator's Guide to Involving Students in Environmental Action Projects

Taking Action inspires ideas and provides models for conducting effective environmental projects. This guide helps educators plan, implement, and evaluate environmental action projects. Samples of more than 30 projects are included. 

Iowa educators can order single copies from the Aquatic Education Program.


blue bullet Trees for Kids/Teens

Trees for Kids and Trees for Teens are tree education and planting programs for Iowa elementary and secondary school students. The goals of the program are to educate students about the values of trees and to encourage the planting of landscape size trees (four to six feet tall) on school grounds or other public areas.
