Background Information
Iowa's Natural Resources

Background information is provided for the following topics:

  • Aquatics
  • Forests
  • Wildlife

This information comes from the Iowa Supplements to Projects WILD, WILD Aquatic, and PLT. The documents provided here are text only. To view the complete documents check out the pdf version or attend a workshop.

How do I get the materials?

Materials are available only through workshop/training sessions which demonstrate their use (six hours). Workshops can be held for teachers, scout leaders, camp personnel, and others. You may request a workshop in your area for a group of at least 15 educators/youth leaders. Check out a list of upcoming workshops.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources also provides training through some 25 college and university science methods classes for pre-service teachers.

WILD and WILD Aquatic materials are provided free of charge. A $15 fee per participant is charged for PLT materials to fund the PLT program at the state level.
